Project: Repair of Richmond Bridge, London, TW9
Client: Richmond Borough Council
Main Contractor: Capital Stone Renovation Ltd
Works: Replace eroded and damaged stone with new matching stone all in Broadcroft Portland stone.
Capital Stone Renovation won the contract to repair this historic bridge and had some very interesting challenges dealing with scaffold access from floating barges to the underside of the bridge and traffic control to the upper roadway surfaces of the bridge.
There was some recent damage from a shipping collision and a considerable amount of general weathering and erosion damage.
We carried out a detailed condition survey of all the stone to the bridge and its structure and marked off the most seriously damaged stonework.
These stones were then carefully removed and replaced by exact replicas made from a matching Portland stone.
The works were completed on time and with the minimum of disruption to the travelling public.
