Cleaning of War Memorials:
Capital Stone offered various Parish Councils the opportunity to spruce up their war memorials as a gesture to mark the centenary of the end of World War One. As a lot of war memorials are listed structures and, quite rightly, hold a special place in communities’ hearts, these works had to be handled extremely carefully with a lot of communication and agreements prior to works commencing.
The added complication was that at most of these sites there was no electrical power or water supply so we had to take our own! The memorials were cleaned using the high temperature DOFF and Thermotec machines which gently lift off years of soiling without damaging the stone or lettering.
